The Bucklands Beach man, who wishes to remain anonymous, says he buys tickets to kill time during “smoko” and just checks them on the ticket scanning machine – and this time it gave him a bit of a shock!
“I didn’t scratch the ticket, I just checked the bar code on the scanner like I usually do, and it said I was a winner and to go see the retailer – I didn’t have a clue what I’d won.
“So, it ended up being a bit of time killed, and a huge thrill too,” says the lucky winner.
The man, who has just bought his own business, is going to put the money in the bank for future plans, and in the meantime have a nice meal – or two – to celebrate!
The $5 Three Of A Kind Instant Kiwi ticket was sold at Milford Shopping Centre on the North Shore, making it the second big Instant Kiwi prize won there in a matter of days – $250,000 was won on $5 Big Break at Hayward's Paper Power in Devonport yesterday.
