All About Lotto

The Lotto draw is filmed at Avalon Studios in Lower Hutt and broadcast live every Saturday night at 8pm on TV2 . The very first Lotto draw took place on 1 August 1987.

Also included in Saturday's live televised draw is Lotto's Winning Wheel.

Every week a Lotto player from somewhere in New Zealand is identified through their Lotto ticket's unique serial number and soon after flown to Wellington to spin to win one of thirty segments carrying prizes ranging between $75,000 and $1 million. The average prize is worth around $220,000.

Non-cash prizes include luxury cars, shopping sprees and a home upgrade package.

Lotto's Winning Wheel has been manufactured especially for the New Zealand Lotteries Commission and has been fully tested and approved by Audit New Zealand who scrutinises, and approves, all other aspects of the Lotto draw.

There are three regular presenters on the Lotto draw; Russell Harrison, Kyllee King-Turner and Matt Lawrey, who take it in turns to present each week.
