Despite selling some of their old toys to raise funds and make room, the current premises at the Guinness Street Women’s Centre are bulging at the seams.
Funds from the NZ Lottery Grants Board go towards buying toys for the library that are either too expensive or too big for their 100 members to purchase themselves.
Toy library member Gayleen Harris says the library toys are outstanding, and can’t wait to see what’s in the new batch that has just been ordered.
“They are things I wouldn’t buy myself but I love having them. It’ll be exciting to work through the new ones too,” she says.
August 6 – 12 was Toy Library Awareness Week, to further encourage parents of young children across New Zealand to join up to their local toy library where they can borrow a wide range of toys for just a fraction of the cost of buying them new.
