The grant has helped the Whitianga Community Services Trust to get a new building, completed at a total cost of $1.16 million.
The new Whitianga Centre houses 24 support services including budgetary advice, a food bank, a family op shop, alternative education services for youth and a day club and hospital drivers for the elderly.
The centre was officially opened last November and among the dignitaries, which included Coromandel MP Sandra Goudie and Internal Affairs Minister Nathan Guy.
