The winner shops for groceries on a Saturday and bought the Instant Kiwi ticket with her weekly Lotto ticket. On the way home from the supermarket she started scratching the ticket while her husband drove them home.
“She kept shouting out to me what poker hand she was scratching off and was asking me whether she was a winner each time,” says the winner’s husband.
“She said she had a full house and the opponent’s card were ‘2 pairs’ so I told her she had won that hand and to scratch off the prize amount,” he adds.
“When she said it was $100,000 I just about crashed the car!” he laughs.
“She doesn’t know how to play poker so I never in a million years thought she’d win on a ticket like this,” he laughs.
The winners have a big milestone birthday coming up, so plan to celebrate in style with friends and family later this month. They will put the majority of their win towards their mortgage and this will help them become mortgage free within the next five years.
