The man bought the $10 Liquid Gold ticket on his way out of the Gardens New World supermarket in Dunedin and on impulse decided to scratch the ticket in the store.
“As soon as I saw that the ticket was a $250,000 winner, I regretted scratching it in the supermarket as I just about wet my pants and didn’t know where the toilet was,” the winner laughs.
“It was so exhilarating, I just couldn’t believe it,” he adds.
The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, is due for retirement soon so says the win will go towards a financial cushion for him and his family.
“I would like to splurge a little though and have my eye on a lovely second hand car in immaculate condition,” he adds.
There are two top prizes remaining on the $10 Liquid Gold ticket.
