The happy couple couldn’t believe their luck when they scratched the $3 Watermelon Crossword ticket bought at Paper Plus Morrinsville.
“We’ve been applying for a loan so we can build extensions to the house and the shed, and worked out it was going to be about $45,000 all up – so this covers all of that, and we’ve got a bit left over for a car and perhaps some treats,” says the lucky man.
“Now we’ll have to call the bank and explain to them about the money going into our account, and that we don’t need their money either – or they might think something strange is going on!”
