The winner says he was passing through Rotorua when he stopped into Take Note Rotorua to buy a drink and the Colours of Summer Crossword poster caught his eye.
“I’d never bought an instant kiwi ticket before but this crossword ticket had really bright colours and I had $3 change so I asked the girl for one,” says the winner.
The winner waited till he got home to scratch the ticket and couldn’t really believe it when he saw he was a winner.
“Having never played one of these tickets before, I read the back a fair few times to make sure I really had one; I would have felt like a goose if I had gone to the Lotto shop and wasn’t a winner!,” he adds.
“The young fella in the Lotto shop got a bit of a fright when he saw how much I’d won, it was a good reaction,” laughs the winner.
It really was a great surprise to win and it’s been quite exciting thinking about what to spend the money on.
