The winner saw the Lucky Lottery Shop sign in Rotorua and decided she would buy her weekly Lotto ticket from there.
While she was in the store she says something made her buy three $1 Handle the Jandal Instant Kiwis.
“I went back to the motel room and scratched the first two tickets and won $5 on one and $8 on the other,” says the winner.
“I scratched the third ticket and just about fell off the bed when I saw the $10,000”, she laughs.
“I couldn’t believe it, I’ve never won anything as big as this,” she says.
The winner says she’ll keep the money for some ‘treats’ for her and her family and says a trip overseas could now be on the cards for next year.
She reckons the store really lived up to its name of being ‘lucky’ as her Lotto ticket for Saturday’s draw also won $58.
There are three top prizes of $10,000 remaining on the $1 Handle the Jandal ticket.
