“We have been playing the same numbers for so long and had a few small wins, but nothing like this,” says one of the winners.
The family, who wish to remain anonymous, purchased their winning ticket at Countdown Lower Hutt.
“We always use the same numbers, and base them on special family birthdays,” says the winner.
“I found out we had won when I was watching the live Lotto draw on TV. All of a sudden our numbers began rolling out.
“When the third number came out, I thought this would be a good prize. Then when all six numbers came out I was shocked!” says the winner.
“After triple checking the numbers, I called the rest of the family and told them the good news.”
The family plan on spending their winnings on paying mortgages and some renovations in the future.
“We might also have to celebrate with a bit of champagne and a meal out as well!”
